7 Under-the-Radar Things To Do Around Huntington Township This June

Everyone knows about the big summer events. But some of the best experiences this month are the ones that rarely make the headlines.

Here are a few worth adding to your June list:

1. Sunrise at Crab Meadow Beach

Most people visit at sunset. Try arriving before 6 AM one morning. The beach is nearly empty, the Sound is calm, and it's one of the most peaceful spots on the North Shore. I grab a coffee and beach blanket to kick off my Fridays.

2. Explore Makamah Nature Preserve

Tucked away in Fort Salonga, this preserve feels worlds away from suburban Long Island. It's quiet, shaded, and perfect for a family walk. My family goes every Sunday morning for some grounding and burn toddler energy.

3. Visit Bailey Arboretum on a Weekday

Everyone talks about the giant trees, but the hidden trails, play spaces for kids, and open space make it one of the best free family outings around.

4. Take the Scenic Drive Through Lloyd Harbor

Take a few minutes to drive through Lloyd Harbor, Lloyd Neck, and conclude at Caumsett State Park. Some of the most beautiful roads on Long Island are hidden here.

5. Grab Lunch and Walk Northport Harbor

Instead of rushing back to work, take your lunch to-go and walk the harbor. It feels surprisingly vacation-like for a Tuesday.

6. Visit a Local Farm Stand

7. Attend a Free Outdoor Concert

Many local parks and villages begin their summer music series in June. Bring a chair, pack snacks, and make an evening of it.

The funny thing about Huntington Township is that the best experiences often aren't the expensive ones. They're the places and traditions hiding in plain sight and accessible to all of us!
